What makes you take action to get something done?
Is it when you’ve got a plan in place? Or do you dive in as soon as you think of something cool you want to do?
Or are you like me; and wait until you’re ‘ready’.
I’ve had this little side project I’ve been working on, my first non fiction book. It had been ‘almost’ finished for over six months. Why hadn’t I just got in and got it done?
It’s because I wasn’t ready. I guess I was feeling a little overwhelmed about what comes after it’s finished and if I never finish it then I won’t have to worry about the what comes next. I’m no psychologist but was I self sabotaging? Maybe.
So what did I need to do to get back on track, to be ‘ready’, to finish off my book?
All you need to do is decide
Really, the only thing I did was decide to finish it.
Once I decided I gave myself a deadline. I find I work better with a deadline, even a self imposed one. I know what to do. I’ve just got decide, give myself a timeframe, and then do it!
Are you ready?
What have you got half done that you need to get finished?
I’ve got another little side project I’m working on, finalising and publishing my first novel. It’s written, the editor has given me review notes, I’ve just got to get it finished.
It really won’t take that long.
So I’ve decided and given myself a deadline, to get it done by Christmas time. Want to join me? Let me know in the comments and we can keep each other accountable.
Let’s do this!
